Whew! October!

Ava and I toured the Riverwalk while Caroline went to TOFW life seminar. We did tour the Hard Rock. Ava's first trip. We have the picture, NOT the $29 t-shirt to prove it!

It was a busy month. It was enough to make
anyone a little tired!

It was so fun to go to Time Out For Women with Caroline and some other ladies from our ward (the group picture did not turn out, so we'll just show this one of us at the Rainforest Cafe). It was nice to get away and regroup.

More October

Sorry we never let you finish that book J!

Ben's favorite part of camping.

Cameron shows off his prickly pear fingers.

Allie and Emma dissect a pricky pear.

Asher and Em rest on Enchanted Rock.

We're taking a break at the bottom.

We love camping. We go twice a year. We're glad the C family could join us at Enchanted Rock. We're planning to go to Perdinales in March. Let us know if you'd like to join us!

Ava's first campout!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Hmmmm...

October part 2

Who needs a gingerbread house when they can have a haunted HALLOWEEN house?? That was a fun and messy project!

Asher wants you to know that he is not just a bat, he is a bat grim reaper!!!! It was trickier last year trying to convince people that a Peter Pan costume was really Harry Potter.

Who's that hot little chili-pepper?

We were watching General Conference with our tent facing the prophet (think King Benjamin). Thank you Friend Magazine for the idea. It was fun, expecially when we could keep it up.

October Pictures

5 months old in this shot and just the sweetes thing ever!!!!!

Emma, John and Ben at the JDRF walk. Asher, Ava and I had a T ball commitment.

September Pictures-Exhibits B and C

Here's stuff I got at a great price in September. All of this was under $10. Okay, the kids were a bit more! Robitussin anyone?

Bella's Birthday Bash. Yes, we celebrated a fictional person's birthday. Stop rolling your eyes, please!!!! Twilight Moms hosted an event in downtown Austin. There was a whole room of women, not just our table!

September Pictures-Exhibit A

Exhibit A: Emma's scrapbook party. For her10th birthday, each friend got to assemble a scrapbook and take home a bag of supplies. Thank you Family Fun Magazine for the idea!

Random holiday shots

My first Christmas!!!!!!

Ava, John and I followed behind the singing caravan in the Deshpande's van. Singing took it out of her!

Caroling with the cul de sac was so much fun! I hope we make a tradition of it!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I hope that your Christmas days were nice! Our's was pretty relaxing, at least for me. John always gets hit up to put everything together. I usually get a nap. In the evening we went off to a small town called Marble Falls and walked thought their trail of lights. It was really nice way to end the day.

This year was a WII Christmas for us. Everyone's been having a lot of fun with it. I haven't as much as the only time I can get on it is around midnight!

I figured as a Christmas treat, I'd actually post some pictures.

Have a fun weekend everyone!

If Emma Had a Million Dollars

This is what Emma told us she'd do with a million dollars.

"I'd get on a plane and go to Grandma and Grandpa's house. And I would get a Nintendo DS."

We think she's got her priorities in the right place! Love you Emma!

So Is Me!!!

This is an Asher phrase. Let's see if I can illustrate how this particular term is used in his conversation.

Me talking to a little boy during Emma's class party, "How old are you?"

Little Boy, "Four."

Asher, "So is me!!!!"

Me, "Do you like video games?"

Little Boy, "Yes."

Asher, "So is me!!!"

Everyone loves Asher. So is me!!!!

The Party Animal!

We are, of course, referring to Emma. This is what she called herself on Friday. After a class Christmas party, she then went to Despereaux with her teacher and some classmates. After that, she hung out with her teacher and a friend while we coordinated getting back to her. Finally, we took Emma to a friend's house to catch the tail end of a party there. On the way to the last event, Emma leaned back and said, "I am a party animal."

Asher's response: "Emma, this is the last party you are going to today. I don't like you going to all these parties!"

Emma and Asher stayed home today from church with coughs. We figured that at this holiday season this was something they could keep to themselves. Well, they painted their noses red and Emma FINALLY donned the reindeer ears I got her to wear to school. She said (and I quote), "Thank you for getting these for me. I wish I had worn them to school." When I came home Thursday night with them expecting to excite her, all I got were pouts that it wasn't a Santa hat. Turns out one other girl wore the reindeer ears friday. I guess you've got to do cutting-edge in pairs in the fourth grade.

Emma said something else that was funny today, but for the life of me I can't remember it. Dang the short term memory!!!! The good news: it may have hit my long term. In the event that it did, I'll post it tomorrow!

Dangerous Gifts

(This one's for you Jen Graham-we miss you!).

No this is not commentary on products manufactured in China or anywhere else. This is in reference to the name Asher has given to one of the gifts under our tree. His gift to be precise.

At this point I should explain that we generally give our kids 3 gifts (more if I forget that I bought stuff back in January). We put those babies under the tree as soon as it goes up. This is mainly because I get sick of storing them in my closet and everyone's poking around in there anyway. Well, I wrapped people's gifts in all the same paper. Emma got the cute paper, Ben got the Christmas tree wrap and Asher got the snowmen. It didn't take the kids a long time to figure this out.

Anyway, I got up from a nap and Asher led me to the newly put up tree. He then said, "I need to get my sharpy gift." WHAT?????? Emma translated, "He's talking about the gift with corners." Two of his gifts are soft and one is in a box. The box one is the "Sharpy Gift". The other two he is referring to as his "Squishy Gifts". My prediction: The cheap wrapping paper is going to disinegrate before December 25th!

Speaking of squishy, Asher is attempting to stay in his own bed tonight. His last willing bedmate (Emma) is alas getting a little tired of having her ear clawed all night. His newest attempt to stay in bed is using 6 different stuffed animals to line each side of his bed. He lost one and yelled, "Hey, one of my friends fell off!" I'll be curious to see how this works.
