Sweet Tooth!

Ben informed me the other day that I had a sweet tooth. Living with me, it didn't involve rocket science for him to figure this out! Anyway, Sunday the kids and I decorated cupcakes. The kids wanted to take some to the next door neighbors. When they came back, Ben said, "Mr. Brian has a sweet tooth too!"
I said, "Oh, did he like the cupcakes?"
Ben said, "He hadn't eaten them yet."
Me: "How do you know that he has a sweet tooth?"
Ben: "I saw it when he smiled. It's caramel-colored."

My Baby is 10!!!!!

Emma's birthday this year was so weird. John and I just kept saying "Okay, now 10 years ago at this time we were watching Oprah and I was in horrible pain." A few hours later, "Okay now the doctor was telling me I had to have a c-section and I was telling him 'no'." Usually it is all about the child, but in a funny way it was our celebration of a decade of parenthood. 10 years as a parent! It's the longest job I've ever held. The most rewarding too.

So, we went to Plucker's. Emma had a fried twinkie for a cake. No, didn't bring the camera, so I can't share the evidence. Will post her upcoming scrapbook party extravaganza.

We're so glad to have Emma. She is such a big help to us and such a good girl. I'll try not to think too hard about what she'll be up to 10 years from now and just enjoy the moment.

Diabetes Sucks!!!!

That's all I have to say on the subject at 3:29 am, night two. The honeymoon is over, literally. Ben's pancreas is finally giving out. His blood sugar is really high and I am checking it every hour and trying to decide whether to pump him full of more insulin and have him drop to 44 like he did last night or if the new insulin I just put in his pen got frozen (I put it on ice last night). If it froze, that would explain why his blood sugar will not come down now.

Okay, just skip this entry and go onto the many, many others I have posted tonight. Just had to keep things real here!

First Day Back

Emma with Ms. Gray

Ben with Ms. Adair

Don't look too thrilled there Ben!

Turn your head to the right 45-90 degrees for a better view of these pictures! ;-)

Ahh, we love the first day of school, the new book bags, clothes, teachers. It's so much fun. Okay, okay, I know this is mom getting excited here. We're glad to have Nurse Pam back in our lives and a little bit of structure back into our days. Okay, again, Mom talking here.

Emma's Happy Moment

So, last Wednesday I picked Emma up from school for an eye appointment. She got in the car and saw Ava wearing this (sorry, I haven't figured out how to rotate pictures on here yet). Emma went crazy!!!! She started saying stuff like, "Ooh, I could just squeeze her! She's so adorable in her new outfit! Ooooh!!!! Oooh!!! (there were lots of "ooh's" and squeals)." It was so much fun.

By the way, I need help tying bows. Ava pulled this bow down and undid it.

Asher's First Friend Party

Oh, what a tangled web we weave!!!!!

Asher gets the royal treatment from his preschool friends.

Spidey cupcakes, anyone???? They're webelicious!

You know, the third kid can really get the shaft at times. Emma and Ben have had some sort of party virtually every year of their lives. This year, at the age of 4 (and after many reschedules), Asher finally got to have a friends party at preschool. Due to illness at our house, we moved the party to the Asay's. The kids had fun making a web (thanks Erin for the idea) and playing "Stick the Mask on Spidey".
Happy Birthday Asher! We're so glad to have you as part of our family. In honor of your fourth, here are four things I love about you.
#1 You are HAPPY
#2 You are easy to please
#3 You are fun
#4 You are loving
Love you buddy!
